Do you remember learning about Maslow's hierarchy of needs for a human? Well, it turns out that there is a hierarchy of needs for a home too! When the sewer stops working - you fix it or you move out. It doesn't matter what the economy is doing right now, if it's Christmas, if you can afford it, or if you are in the mood - you just get it fixed.Blessedly - we have completed the "little" project of replacing our sewer lateral! Here are some pictures - they only had to dig at the house and out in the street. Also pictured are the offending trees whose roots caused this whole mess. I'd like to meet the individual who sometime around 1964 placed a silver maple sapling directly over the clay sewer line and thought "this will look good here..."
Anyway, it is over now and we are thankful to all who were so supportive and helpful.

I feel for you guys. But, the bright side is that it is a beautiful tree.....right?
