Thanks

Thanks so much for all the love and support - for those of you who have asked here is the link to the blog for updates on my mom

www.prayersforlaura.blogspot.com

For those of you who don't know what's going on, my mom was in a serious car accident on Friday and is in critical condition in the ICU at McKay. We're praying for (and expecting) a full recovery but it will be a very very long road.

IT'S HERE!

So, what would inspire me to come out of blogging retirement?

?

Mike and his band (The Hard Hearted) have been working SO hard on their new CD - and it is finally done and here! I'm so excited about it, and so proud of Mike. You can check out samples of the music on i-tunes... the cd is called "Petals and Thorns" (band: The Hard Hearted.)

If you want a hard copy we have them for $10 .

Along the same lines as the CD title.... Mylee came up to me yesterday all excited and said "mom, you won't believe it! The thorns are turning into flowers!" Yep, my roses are starting to bloom.

Happy Christmas Time

I'm so behind on my blog - but I hope you are all having a great season and not working too hard (yea right.) Z's last oncology appointment went well. They couldn't differentiate the tumor from the surrounding fat to measure it. It is kind of a "no news is good news" situation. The MRI in three months will be much more definitive.
Mylee is loving all the Christmas music, but some of the phrases are over her head. A few of her funny versions are are an entire verse of "O' Holy Night" but saying "O' Holy Moly", and "Tis the season to meet Charley."

Jolly Times

We took Mylee to see Santa at the mall over the weekend (this is the only celebrating we do prior to Thanksgiving because there are zero lines!) She sat on his lap and told him she'd like a Snow White toy and a Princess Piano.
.
We were in a store awhile later and she told Mike "I have to go back and talk to Santa, I forgot to tell him something!" Mike told her that he could get a message to Santa if she wispered it into his (Mike's) ear. She said "I forgot to tell him that he can get those toys at Target."

random picture that makes me smile
.
Mylee (while looking through my wedding album):
"Oh, this is the sad part."
-
Me (noticing that she is looking at a picture of me and my dad): "What do you mean?"
-
Mylee:
"I don't like it when you marry your dad, I only like it when you marry my dad."

2 cents

Ever since the hype of Y2K (that turned out to be nothing) - I've been sceptical about anything too hyped up by the media. My tune has officially changed. We've spent the last week with the swine flu, and it is just as bad as they make it out to be.

I'll spare you the details of our PITIFUL and continual suffering. I wanted to do this post for anyone who may be currently well. It is worth it to do what you have to do to avoid this! Go stand in line for the vaccine, stay home from the family party where cousin bill "isn't feeling well" because it will be worth it!

We got Zach in early enough that they prescribed him the Tamiflu medicine - but so far I don't see that it is making his any easier than Mike or Mylee's. Maybe it will be shorter, we'll see. I so far have been well enough to take care of the rest of the family. That has been a huge blessing.

Good health to you all....

OKTOBERFEST

We finally made it up to Oktoberfest, and had a blast! We went with Mike's parents and brother and sister in law.
Zach got his first taste of the BEST German Chocolate cake ever. EVER.
( Just kidding, we wouldn't have given up a bite)Mylee could dance all day!

This is a couples "egg dance." Mike was a great sport and we had fun.
